Product Description

The Baby Bjorn Mini Carrier comes in two fabric type options. There is a mesh option, as well as a 100% Cotton option, both come with a selection of colors. I actually have one of each of these carriers. (Yes, I have three carriers in total right now, plus a wrap)

Both fabric options are super soft materials, so they are perfect for delicate newborn skin. It has adjustable leg holes to make sure smaller babies are snug and safe while in the carrier. It also carries baby in ergonomic, hip healthy positions.

This carrier is so easy to use, and is perfect for newborns as you can carry them higher on the chest and have them close to listen to your heartbeat during those early months. The Baby Bjorn Mini can be put on and taken off in seconds, and adjusts by just the pull of straps.

Note: This carrier does not carry baby on the back.

Though it is most suited for those early months, it can hold a weight up to 25lbs, and up to 1 year of age.

Both choices are small enough that they can be thrown in the diaper bag, or bottom of the stroller to take with you on the go.

The Good

  • Soft material perfect for newborns
  • Very easy to use
  • Comes in two fabric choices
  • Comes in multiple color choices
  • Fully adjustable straps and head support
  • Ergonomic and hip healthy carry positions
  • Takes up little space
  • Carries baby high on the chest – perfect for C-section recovery

The Bad

  • Does not carry baby on the back – would need to purchase another carrier if wanting to do so
  • Not ideal for older babies

Why You Need It

Marlow is just over 6 months now and even though I do have a back carrier (also Baby Bjorn) these ones are my definite go to. I have a cotton one, as well as a mesh version.

The mesh one I preferred during the summer months, as I felt that it was slightly more breathable than the cotton one. I used Carrierthe cotton one during the first few months after she was born, and now that the weather is getting colder I will use it again.

If little miss is refusing a nap or overtired, we strap her in this carrier facing inwards and she is out like a light within minutes.

This carrier allowed me to get things done around the house during those early months. The laundry in our building is way in the basement and I would strap her on and take her down there with me with no problems.

I also travel quite a bit on the ferry and it is great to throw in the bottom of the stroller while I am on the go so that I can just throw it on when she gets a bit fussy.

The Baby Bjorn Mini Carrier does not have a waist strap as some more structured carriers do so it is ideal for moms who have had a C-Section. It also clicks together in seconds, and is the easiest to use out of any carrier.

I had convinced myself that I was going to use a wrap this time around, but I just couldn’t get the hang of it. I came by this carrier by accident really, and didn’t know anything about them at the time. Since then, I have fell in love with it and I suggest them to all of my new mom friends.

I wish I had read this blog 17 years ago when my daughter was a baby. Back then I wanted to try a baby carrier and I actually bought one, don’t even remember what brand it was. It was one with baby strapped on front. Couldn’t get quite used to it and I felt like she wasn’t strapped in it safely enough. The one in this review seems to hold baby in securely. I admire moms who do their running around and their house work carrying baby like this, it just wasn’t for me.I think I would prefer a carrier that straps baby on my back because I love back packs, lol!

Thanks for your comment Andrea! Everyone is different – I think I still need to get used to having her on my back because I am so used to having her snuggled right up on me using this carrier!

This is a very helpful post. I don’t need a carrier buy my niece has a newborn and I’ll send her to your post. This looks like exactly what she needs, her baby weighed 9 pounds. Thanks for the information.

    All the best to you,
    V. Pearl

Excellent article! I enjoyed the reading, it reminded me of my children when they were first born and I carried them in similar type baby carriers…

Baby carriers are a wonderful idea because you can safely carry your baby without losing track of them, all the while remaining hands free…to do your shopping or other things that moms have to do around the house!

Thanks for this very useful post!

    Hey,
Great article on the Bjorn baby carrier. I used one of these when my children were babies. Like you said this is a great way to have baby snuggled up against you while your doing household chores. Very educational for parents.
    Cheers!
